HEALTH SCREENINGS

Twice a year, Mental Health America coordinates free screenings for mental disorders.  The service is in collaboration with two national organizations, Screening for Mental Health, Inc. and Freedom from Fear.  Locally, the screenings are made possible through the support of area mental health professionals who donate their time to interpret the results  and meet privately with participants.

Anxiety Disorders Screening Day in May detects disorders such as generalized anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, phobias, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Mental Health Screening Day in October detects depression as well as bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Individuals who participate in a confidential screening complete a written assessment.  The results are interpreted by a mental health professional who meets privately with the participant.  Results of the screening are discussed along with resource options if follow-up care is being recommended. Free, printed materials are provided at the screening site.

If you are currently experiencing troubling symptoms and cannot wait for the screening day,

  • Call Mental Health America at 920-458-3951. Options for more timely interventions can be discussed with you.
